Call for Papers;

Edinburgh University Collection of Historic Musical Instruments is organising a colloquium on bagpipes, to be held at St Cecilia's Hall, Edinburgh, 12 August 2013.

The Colloquium will present recent research on topics related to the history, making and performance of bagpipes in Britain (all periods) and related aspects of repertoire and the social milieu of bagpipe playing in Scotland, England and Ireland.

The Colloquium is being held in conjunction with the special exhibition of historic bagpipes from Scotland, England and Ireland The Piper's Whim (1 - 31 August 2013) at St Cecilia's Hall, Edinburgh. This exhibition will be the culmination of the project Enriching our Musical Heritage funded by the U.K. Heritage Lottey Fund as part of the HLF Collecting Cultures programme.
