The Lowland & Border Pipers' Society

CONTACT THE LBPS

The Society is staffed by willing volunteers who try to respond to requests as soon as they come in, but inevitably this is not always possible - please be patient in your dealings with us! Technical advisors
These are professional makers (changing on a three-yearly rota) who will give information and assistance with the repair and maintenance of pipes, reeds etc and will give advice about what to look out for when buying an instrument without subjecting you to the "hard sell." Telephone advice is free but if you require work to be done, please expect to pay the going rate.

Tune Requests
Members often ask for help locating tunes, or publications containing particular tunes.
Jeannie Campbell, Curator of the College of Piping Museum, has an extensive index and will be willing to help find them for you. PLEASE do not abuse this service by asking for a huge list of tunes.
If you require more than two or three, we suggest you write to Jeannie enclosing a small donation (the College is also a charitable organisation).

Buying a Set of Pipes or Hiring Practice Pipes
Impartial advice on how to approach the whole process, and warnings about the various pitfalls to avoid can be found in MORE POWER TO YOUR ELBOW, the Tutor Manual (details in the merchandise section), but for further information or answers to more specific questions, please contact the Secretary. PLEASE take lots of advice before rushing out and buying an instrument - you will be glad you did!
